The Dark Unwinding by Sharon Cameron

The Dark Unwinding
Author: Sharon Cameron
Genre: Young Adult
Source: Publisher/Scholastic
ISBN: 9780545327862

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

A spine-tingling tale of steampunk and spies, intrigue and heart-racing romance!

When Katharine Tulman's inheritance is called into question by the rumor that her eccentric uncle is squandering away the family fortune, she is sent to his estate to have him committed to an asylum. But instead of a lunatic, Katharine discovers a genius inventor with his own set of rules, who employs a village of nine hundred people rescued from the workhouses of London.

Katharine is now torn between protecting her own inheritance and preserving the peculiar community she grows to care for deeply. And her choices are made even more complicated by a handsome apprentice, a secretive student, and fears for her own sanity.

As the mysteries of the estate begin to unravel, it is clear that not only is her uncle's world at stake, but also the state of England as Katharine knows it. With twists and turns at every corner, this heart-racing adventure will captivate readers with its intrigue, thrills, and romance.

MY THOUGHTS

This book was suppose to be a sort of steampunk, gothic, fantasy, young adult mash-up.  While I agree with it being young adult and dark, I don't think it had too many elements to make it a true steampunk book.  Yes it is set in the Victorian era and there are some things that have the machine like feel to it, but beyond that there isn't much more to classify it as that.  I may not have a full understanding of what steampunk is truly about, but if this was it then I am not missing much.

Putting that aside though, the story wasn't bad.  Yes it is heavy on the setup in the beginning, but after you drudge through the beginning, it does get better.  I liked the dark feel the book had and the characters were pretty good as well.  The romance was slow going but not stalled too much.  I actually liked it that way because the inst-love would have dragged the story down.  Plot over love was a plus in this book. The writing was good and kept me interested to the last page.  I liked how the ending was done and left the reader to think that there will be another book to follow.

The cover art on this book is also amazing.  I found myself drooling over that dress and the Victorian feel to it.  I actually think the art department actually listened to what the book was about and gave it a true image of the story.  That is always a plus in my opinion.  If you are into a young adult book with a darker but enjoyable feel to it, then this is one that you should look into checking out.

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

Otherkin by Nina Berry

Otherkin
Series: Otherkin #1
Author: Nina Berry
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
Source: Publisher
ISBN: 9780758276919

MY SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

I thought I knew myself. Then I met Caleb.

Dez is a good girl who does as she’s told and tries not to be noticed.
Then she rescues a boy from a cage, and he tells her secrets about herself.
Now inside her burns a darkness that will transform her.

Everything is about to change -- and neither Caleb, nor the Otherkin, nor those who hunt them are prepared for what Dez will unleash.

MY THOUGHTS

With a book that starts out with a bang, the reader would expect it to be amazing throughout the rest of the story.  Unfortunately, while the story could have been amazing, it turned out to be just okay for me.

While I enjoyed the fact that this book focused on a female shifter trying to embrace her powers,  for me that was the only thing that really seemed to set this book apart from others.  The characters were bland, with no real substance and emotion.  The characters seemed to roll with the punches and not express shock, denial or anything else before moving straight to acceptance of the weird things that happen.  It felt like they had limited emotions and were afraid to feel anything more.

As other reviewers have mentioned -- and I agree on this -- the romance in this book is instant love and not believable.  If anything, the only emotion that came from it was forced and lacking of any real spark.  While the only saving grace of this book was the action, it wasn't enough to make me want to run out and buy the next book in the series on release day.  This is one of those books that just left me with an okay feeling by the last page.

MY RATING

If the library doesn't have it, don't worry about reading it!

Contest & Guest Post with Kerrelyn Sparks

Today on My Overstuffed Bookshelf, I have the very talented Kerrelyn Sparks!!
Lets give her a warm welcome and stay tuned after reading her Guest Post for an amazing giveaway hosted by AVON books!

A Different Sort of Hero

Not every romance hero can be born a duke...or a werewolf.  That was the idea behind the hero of The Forbidden Lady.  Can a normal guy succeed as a hero without the benefit of a title-- or in the case of my usual supernatural heroes, without the benefit of superpowers or fangs?

Introducing Quincy Stanton, the hero of The Forbidden Lady.  He’s a sea captain from Boston in 1769, a tense time in American history that climaxes with the Boston Massacre.  Quincy is recruited by the Sons of Liberty to spy on the British. Instead of shifting into a werewolf, he transforms into the James Bond of the American Revolution.  With no superpowers, he depends on some super gadgets—a carriage rigged with special compartments and a booby trap, a magnifying glass lined with phosphorescence so it glows in the dark, and a submersible for sneaking about Boston harbor. (This is based on the Turtle, an actual submersible used during the Revolutionary War).

So Quincy is a different sort of hero—or is he?  Like all my heroes, Quincy possesses what I consider heroic virtues:  honor, strength, intelligence, and integrity.  He also has something else in common with my supernatural heroes—a second identity he needs to keep secret.  He can’t admit to being a spy.  It would cost him his life.  So when he falls in love, how can he gain the heroine’s trust without revealing his secret?

It’s the same dilemma that some of my vampire and shifter heroes face.  In Wild About You, (releasing November 27th), Howard Barr is trying to win the heart of Elsa.  Would any woman in her right mind want to fall in love with a guy who occasionally becomes a real bear?  A huge, grizzly bear to be precise.

Whether it’s a sea captain hiding the fact that he’s a spy, or a guy who played for the Chicago Bears hiding the fact that he’s a were-bear, it’s still a hero with a dual personality. He’s both the prince and the beast, and it will take a special heroine (or Beauty) to see past the beast and recognize the prince.  In The Forbidden Lady, Quincy becomes a very different sort of beast—an obnoxious dandy in lavender silk and a lavender-tinted wig.  Only another spy, the lovely Virginia Munro, will manage to see through his Scarlet Pimpernel-like masquerade.  And along the way, there will be a lot of laughs, some adventure and suspense, and of course, some glorious romance.

The Forbidden Lady goes on sale in e-book form September 25th, then in print form October 25th. Originally published as For Love or Country, it has now been revised to be funnier and sexier than ever.  Wild About You, the thirteenth book in the Love at Stake series, releases November 27th.  For more information, please visit www.kerrelynsparks.com

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kerrelyn Sparks’ first paranormal romance, How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire, zoomed out of the bat cave so fast it became Borders bestselling debut romance of 2005.   Each book in the Love at Stake series has become a USAToday bestseller.  When the fourth book, The Undead Next Door, landed on the New York Times bestseller list, even the Undead sat up and took notice, which made Kerrelyn a bit nervous. She lives in the Greater Houston area with her husband, children, and a house full of garlic.  So far, there are no vampires in her family. Werewolves are another matter entirely.

Stalking The Others by Jess Haines

Stalking the Others
Series: H&W Investigations #4
Author: Jess Haines
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Source: Gift form Author
ISBN: 9781420124026

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

Vampires, werewolves, mages–the Others are very real, and wreaking havoc in Shiarra Waynest’s life. But now, she’s returning the favor…

Once, she was one of the good guys–or as close as a New York P.I. can get. Then Shiarra Waynest was drawn into the world of the Others. Every faction has its own loyalties and agenda. And Shia’s recent betrayal by her ex-boyfriend means that she may be on the verge of becoming a rogue werewolf at the next full moon.

Of course, with all the threats against her, Shia’s not sure she’ll live long enough to find out. The enigmatic vampire Royce wants her back in his clutches, as do two powerful werewolf packs, along with the police. Instead of going into hiding, Shia is enlisting the aid of her enchanted hunter’s belt and every dirty P.I. trick she knows. If she’s going down, she’ll take out as many of her enemies as she can–and hope that in the process, she keeps whatever humanity she has left…

MY THOUGHTS

Action? Check.
Kick Ass Heroine? Check.
Suspense? Check.
Another winner of a book? CHECKMATE.

Since I am not a regular reader of urban fantasy,  the books in this category better blow me away for me to keep reading them.  What author Jess Haines brings to this reader is excitement and holy amazing!  I loved the writing and the characters in this book.

I love how the author changed the character of Shia in this book.  Instead of the usual, we get a Kick-Them-In-the-Jewels Shia that is one seriously bad girl.  I loved it.  She was strong and fierce.  What made it better was all the action that was involved with this one.  Even with the most dire situations though, the author is able to give us witty dialogue to keep it just a touch light enough to make me not dread what could happen next.

Even though I came into this series on the second book, I have not had a hard time playing catch up.  I will eventually get around to reading the first book someday when I have time, but for now --- I am just enjoying the ride.  I might have a better understanding of some things if I had read the first in the series, but the author writes so wonderfully that it hasn't been a hindrance to me.

Even with the ending being rushed -- although I will say that it is not too bad -- I loved how it ended.  Now if I can just convince the author to finish up writing the next book.  I need more and that is no joke.

MY RATING

Outstanding book that will stay on my bookshelf for rereading!

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Ready Player One
Author: Ernest Cline
Source: Wunderkid PR
Genre: Fiction/Sci-Fi/Adventure
ISBN: 9780307887443

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

It’s the year 2044, and the real world is an ugly place.

Like most of humanity, Wade Watts escapes his grim surroundings by spending his waking hours jacked into the OASIS, a sprawling virtual utopia that lets you be anything you want to be, a place where you can live and play and fall in love on any of ten thousand planets.

And like most of humanity, Wade dreams of being the one to discover the ultimate lottery ticket that lies concealed within this virtual world. For somewhere inside this giant networked playground, OASIS creator James Halliday has hidden a series of fiendish puzzles that will yield massive fortune—and remarkable power—to whoever can unlock them.

For years, millions have struggled fruitlessly to attain this prize, knowing only that Halliday’s riddles are based in the pop culture he loved—that of the late twentieth century. And for years, millions have found in this quest another means of escape, retreating into happy, obsessive study of Halliday’s icons. Like many of his contemporaries, Wade is as comfortable debating the finer points of John Hughes’s oeuvre, playing Pac-Man, or reciting Devo lyrics as he is scrounging power to run his OASIS rig.

And then Wade stumbles upon the first puzzle.

Suddenly the whole world is watching, and thousands of competitors join the hunt—among them certain powerful players who are willing to commit very real murder to beat Wade to this prize. Now the only way for Wade to survive and preserve everything he knows is to win. But to do so, he may have to leave behind his oh-so-perfect virtual existence and face up to life—and love—in the real world he’s always been so desperate to escape.

A world at stake.
A quest for the ultimate prize.
Are you ready?

MY THOUGHTS

After numerous requests from people that I venture out of my comfort zone of romance, I decided to give this book a try.  It was sent to me for review -- one I didn't request -- but I thought I would use it as my stepping stone into a different type of read than what I am accustomed to.

Can I just say that this book was completely the opposite of what I was expecting!  I am not a huge fan of Science Fiction, but I will say that this book gave a new take to the genre.  It was set in the new future which added the Dystopia theme to it.  It had undertones of Hunger Games like fighting in it.  It had suspense in it as well.  It was like a gift of several genres all wrapped nicely with a bow on it.  I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed a book like this.  The writing was even done to a point to where I felt like I was experiencing it like the main character at times.

There were a few things that I didn't like about the book though. If you are not into the whole 1980's, then you might want to reconsider.  This book is rich in the eighties culture and has you step back into those horrible years of youth.  Even with that being said, I still say give it a try if you are willing to step into a different comfort zone for your next read.  You might find yourself finding a new story to enjoy.

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

Every Day by David Levithan

Every Day
Author: David Levithan
Source: Amazon Vine
Genre: Young Adult
ISBN: 9780307931887

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.
It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.

MY THOUGHTS

This is a book where some things are left unanswered but does not leave the reader wondering too much about it.  Yes, some will have some questions still, but most will just enjoy the ride.

I really liked this book.  I haven't read anything before by this author (at least I don't think I have), but I found myself enjoying the writing and the story that the author created.  While I am not a big fan of the cover,  I am willing to overlook it because the story is truly what held my interest. Not knowing what could be the next day in life, the author made the story come alive through A.  A was just going through the motions of changing each day into someone new, but when A finds love we get to see the transformation. I couldn't wait to get to each new chapter to see what would happen.

Again, while I have not read anything else by this author, I am happy to say that I will definitely be checking out his other books to try.

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

Wake by Amanda Hocking

Wake
Series: Watersong #1
Author: Amanda Hocking
Source: Amazon Vine
Genre: Young Adult
ISBN: 9781250008121

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

Fall under the spell of Wake—the first book in an achingly beautiful new series by celebrated author Amanda Hocking—and lose yourself to the Watersong.

Gorgeous. Fearless. Dangerous. They're the kind of girls you envy; the kind of girls you want to hate. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Lexi and Thea have caught everyone's attention—but it’s Gemma who’s attracted theirs. She’s the one they’ve chosen to be part of their group.

Gemma seems to have it all—she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever. She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove. They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different.

Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. But her new powers come with a terrifying price. And as she uncovers the truth, she’s is forced to choose between staying with those she loves—or entering a new world brimming with dark hungers and unimaginable secrets.

MY THOUGHTS

I have never been a huge fan of "mermaid" themed books.  There are a few that I have found to enjoy, but not many.  The only reason I ventured into this world again was the fact that it was written by Amanda Hocking.  Everyone is raving about her writing and her amazing publishing deal she received awhile back.  I figured there must be something to her writing if publishers were this excited about signing on a new writer.

I am still on the fence about this read.  While I can see the allure of the authors writing,  I am still not sold on the mermaid and sirens.  All I can think about is a fin getting in the way while trying to hug someone.  I know it seems childish, but my brain can't seem to compute this with romantic and alluring.  This is just a personal peeve and not one that another reader should hold against a mermaid themed book.  On that note, the story itself was entertaining, but not outstanding.  Yes it held my interest and I was glad to have read this new read, but it is not one that blew the others in pile out of the water.  (no pun intended)  Also the climatic ending was pretty good and I give it points for keeping me interested enough to want to try the next book.

I can say that this author does have a unique writing style even if it did seem a little on the young side.  I know this is an author with many books under her belt though, so I will try and read other stories by her before making a final decision on adding her to my auto-buy list.

MY RATING

Okay book, but it left me wanting more!

Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley

Motorcycle Man
Series: Dream Man #4
Author: Kristen Ashley
Genre: Contemporary Romance
ISBN: B0085CIEHG
(E-Book Edition)

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

Stuck in a colorless world, Tyra Masters decides to chuck her old life and starts searching for something. She doesn’t know what it is until she meets her dream man. The goateed, tattooed, muscled, gravelly voiced motorcycle man who plies her with tequila and gives her the best sex of her life. But she knows it isn’t the tequila and sex talking. He’s it. He’s who she’s been daydreaming about since she could remember.

Until he makes it clear she isn’t who he’s looking for.

Tyra slinks away from his bed, humiliated. The problem is, he’s her new boss. She just may or may not have forgotten to tell him that part.

Kane “Tack” Allen has a rule. He doesn’t employ someone he’s slept with. And he lets Tyra know that in his motorcycle man way. Tyra fights for her job and wins it using sass and a technicality. Tack challenges her that if she hits his bed one more time, she loses her job.

Tyra is determined to keep her job and keep away from Tack. But she makes a big mistake. During their head-to-heads, she lets it all hang out and shows Tack she is who he’s looking for. And Tack has had a good woman slip through his fingers, he’s not about to let that happen again.

Although Tack colors Tyra’s world with a vibrancy that’s blinding, being with him means she has to live in his Motorcycle Club world. Full on, no holds barred. And since Tack’s world, not to mention Tack, is a little scary, Tyra isn’t so sure.

It's Tack's job to convince her.

MY THOUGHTS

Mandi, you are an evil woman!  When Mandi from Smexybooks gifted me with a copy of this book to read, I was a little hesitant in reading it.  I read Knight awhile back -- even though I was told not to start with it -- so I wasn't sure what to expect with Motorcycle Man.  She told me that I would really enjoy this one, so I caved and read it over the weekend.  I am still trying to figure out if Mandi is evil or genius.

First, I want to point out that Tack is not a nice man.  Oh no.  He is an arrogant, rough, and sexy alphahole as I was told and quickly found out.  He is to the point of where you want to grab his jewels, rip them off, shove them down his throat and then suck them back out with your mouth.  Oh yeah.  You will hate him, but fall for him at the same time.  He is possessive, outspoken when it comes to what he wants, and he will not settle for less.  He will own you body, heart and soul before you are finished reading this book.

Tyra took a little of warming up before I truly enjoyed her character.  I think the best scene with Tyra was when she went after a man who dared messed with Tack's teenage daughter.  I cheered and was disappointed when Tack told her to stop.  I wanted to read more and wanted her to beat the crap out of that man even more.

I think the only thing that I didn't really like about this book was the Russian Mob part of the plot.  I understand that is a big part of the story, but I just couldn't process it as a believable one.  Even though I felt that way, I didn't stop reading it.  Nope.  Kristen Ashley is crack for readers.  I will bow down to Mandi and her reviewers for that being spot on.  I am not too proud to admit that they were right and I was wrong. I was never a motorcycle club type of girl before, but I am starting to see the appeal to those rough and rowdy men!

MY FAVORITE QUOTE

“Got it all scheduled,” he noted.
“Yes,” I returned.
“What’s a huge-ass wedding?”
“Don’t ask that,” I advised. “Just show up.”
His grin turned wicked and I liked it. That was, I liked it until he enquired, “You askin’ me to marry you, Red?”
I wasn’t even sipping coffee and, still, I chocked. Then I pushed out, “What?”
“I accept.”
I shook my head and kept shaking it when I requested clarification, “Let me get this straight. Did you just accept my non-marriage offer?”
“Non-marriage?”
“I didn’t ask!” My voice was rising.
“So you just wanna shack up?” he asked but didn’t wait on my answer. “I’m good with that too.”
Gah!
“I’m getting my huge-ass wedding,” I declared.
“So you are askin’ me to marry you,” he noted.
Gah! Gah! Gah!!
Sharp as a tack.
Someone kill me.”

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!

Down To You by M. Leighton

Down To You
Author: M. Leighton
Source: Author Submission
Genre: Adult Contemporary
ISBN: B009FG00N2
(Ebook Edition)

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not.

Olivia Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through college so she can return home to help her father run his business. She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him, even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white.

But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.
Cash is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her.

Nash is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch, he makes her forget why they can never be together.

Black and white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in love. With both of them.

Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire.

She wants them both.

And they want her.

How will she ever choose between them?

MY THOUGHTS

When author M. Leighton asked me if I wanted to read and review Down To You before release date,  I immediately said yes and made my friends green with envy.  I might have rubbed it in that I was reading it before release date and became a child on twitter with "nahnahnah" and " neinerneinerneiner" being tweeted to them.  I apologize for my actions, but I don't apologize for my excitement.

Let me warn readers right off the bat -- you will not be able to choose Team Cash or Team Nash.  It is just not possible for your heart to choose.  With that being said, can you imagine how Olivia felt having to choose?  I felt for the girl.  I wanted to help her so much.  Let us go over the details of characters first.

OLIVIA:  Shy but won't-take-crap-from-mean-people heroine.  She is thrown into a love triangle she does not see coming.  Refuses to settle for a bad boy again.  Looking for the good guy that will treat her right, but seems to always fall for the bad boys. Can also make kicking cocktails because she is one great bartender.

CASH:  Sexy, tattooed bar owner of Dual.  Use to be the high school bad boy and screw up of the family.  Can make a woman drool from 5 paces and likes to flirt with women.  Doesn't have a close relationship with his twin brother -- or does he?

NASH:  The clean cut twin of Cash who is one hell of a lawyer-to-be.  Dating Olivia's rich and spoiled cousin.  Instantly attracted to Olivia and flirts with her every chance he can.  Agrees to Olivia's terms of not acting on the flirtations in respect to her cousin.  While he is the good boy of the family, he also harbors secrets that could crumble his good-guy image.

When Olivia is attending her friends party, Cash walks into the room to announce that their stripper has arrived.  Before he can make the announcement, the girls rush him and assume he is the stripper.  The girls convince Olivia to be the one to relieve him of his clothes.  She is hesitant and shy at first, but with Cash daring her on, she quickly gets into it.  Before she makes it to his pants though,  the real stripper walks in and Olivia figures out the mistake.  She is embarrassed and humiliated but just drunk enough that she hopes she won't remember it morning.  Unfortunately, she wakes with a hangover and dirty thoughts of Cash.  She walks into her kitchen the next morning and sees her cousin with her boyfriend.  When she looks over to her cousins boyfriend, she gets a shock.  He looks exactly like Cash and accuses him of what happened.  Her cousin laughs when she realizes Olivia has just been introduced to the twin brother of Cash.  Her boyfriend is named Nash and he is the complete opposite of Cash.

Seriously, how is a girl not suppose to fantasize about two hot twin brothers who happen to flirt with her?
Oh there is a plot involved that does involved murder, mobs, and actual heartache,  but the guy factor alone is enough to keep a reader going.

I will give you a hint to this book though.  Just when you think you have your decision of who Olivia should be with, you are wrong.  Don't argue with me!  You. Are. Wrong!  Also, pay attention to the smallest of details that the author provides in the narration and such.  It does mean something and is in no way words to fill pages to make a word count.  Again, everything you think will happen will be in the wrong and you will have plenty of jaw dropping moments that you will have bruises on your chin by the end of the book. Also be prepared for an ending that will be open for another installment.

Down To You brought sexiness and hot guys Down To Me and I want more!!!  I am just going to make my own Team Hashtag for this one and start using #TeamCNash !!!

Team Human by Justine Larbalestier & Sarah Rees Brennan

Team Human
Author(s): Justine Larbalestier & Sarah Rees Brennan
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
Source: Amazon Vine
ISBN: 9780062089649

SUMMARY
(From Goodreads)

Just because Mel lives in New Whitby, a city founded by vampires, doesn't mean she knows any of the blood-drinking undead personally. They stay in their part of town; she stays in hers. Until the day a vampire shows up at her high school. Worse yet, her best friend, Cathy, seems to be falling in love with him. It's up to Mel to save Cathy from a mistake she might regret for all eternity

On top of trying to help Cathy (whether she wants it or not), Mel is investigating a mysterious disappearance for another friend and discovering the attractions of a certain vampire wannabe. Combine all this with a cranky vampire cop, a number of unlikely romantic entanglements, and the occasional zombie, and soon Mel is hip-deep in an adventure that is equal parts hilarious and touching.

MY THOUGHTS

How do you write a review on a book that is so different that what you were expecting?  When I first saw the cover of this book, I thought I would be reading about a group of teens and adventure.  Then I read the back of the book and thought that it might be a lighter than the normal drama and angst with some adventure still.  Then when I started reading the book I found it was so much different than what I thought.

This book actually had me laughing out loud at times.  I loved the humor that the authors injected in the paranormal world created. With all of the paranormal books that are out there, it is refreshing to read something that pokes fun at it sometimes. What I loved is how this book is written to be one that you don't take to heart.  I also loved the witty and comical dialogue of the characters.

If you are looking for a read that will lift your spirits and revive your interest in vampires and such, then I recommend getting a good laugh from this book.  It pokes fun at things, keeps you smiling, and gives you just a feel good feeling when you are in a funk from paranormal overload.

MY RATING

Very Good! I would recommend this book!
